First of all, thank you for
visiting my website! I hope you have enjoyed your stay so far! I was born in Stockholm, Sweden on May 30th, 1975 and spent my early childhood there with the exception of two years in Tanzania, Africa. I currently live in the town of Linköping, where I spent most of my later childhood and teen years. I was also fortunate enough to be able to live in Columbus, OH (USA) for one year. Although I'm comfortable living where I do at this time, I hope that I will be able to move away from the inland later on. Having literally grown up in and around the open sea in various ways, I don't really feel at peace unless I have access to vast amounts of water. I've always loved animals, particularly horses and dogs, and learned how to ride at a mere three years of age while living in Tanzania. I've remained faithful to the equine species ever since, although I currently can't afford to keep a horse of my own. For those wondering how to pronounce my last name ;)... "yer-peh" is pretty close. Just as in Spanish and French the "h" is silent. In 1985 I found the model horse hobby which provided me with an ideal way to combine my love of horses as well as art. I was fortunate enough to be able to work professionally as an equine artist for a number of years, but at this point in my life any and all art projects are simply on a hobby level. Over the years I've written a plethora of articles on various equine-related subjects, and was a regular contributor to the well-known Horsing Around magazine (now defunct). I'm also a member of the wonderful Realistic Equine Sculpture Society (RESS). I'm a jack of all trades (and master of none, probably!), so I've worked with various professions throughout my life. As I've always loved all things culinary it should come as no great surprise that I've spent quite a few years working as a maître d' and as a bartender. I'm also a licensed massage therapist and hold an international license as a fitness instructor. A little-known fact is that I also have several years of opera and classical piano training. Since the spring of 2004 I'm officially a full-time student. I dropped out of high school when I was 16, but with advancing age and feeling the need to challenge those small grey cells of mine, I finally felt motivated enough to go back to school. I'm currently finishing my BA at Linköping University and plan on ending up with a Master of Arts, specializing in English/French/Swedish translation. I also do some graphic design work part-time, mostly for a local restaurant/nightclub.
Although a horse of my own is beyond my financial means at this time, I help out with an off-the-track Standardbred mare a couple of times a week. Right now I'm teaching Kermit to tag along when I go riding, and I'm proud to say he's behaving beautifully. I'm quite convinced he thinks she's just a really big dog. ;) As mentioned I hold a great love for food and wine, so experimenting in the kitchen is something I do almost daily. My collection of recipes and cookbooks is ever-growing and by now manages to fill an entire bookcase on its own. Needless to say I love having friends over for dinner when I can! Oh, what else... I love to travel, and being an independent spirit I have no qualms about going half-way across the world on my own. My latest major trip was in 2006, when I spent a month visiting the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. I still have to sort out the photos and post them here, so in the meantime feel free to browse the following links: Caravan's Lai'if Morafiq: A Tribute Caravan Qaatim Ibn Vagrant, 1999-2008 Swedish Champion Swedish Winner-04-05-06 Nordic Winner-07 Ameqqarzounadu |
